Authors in Bloom Blog Hop Begins Today!

Today the 7th Annual Authors in Bloom Blog Hop begins and not a moment too soon. Granted, I’ve been gardening for months now, but many of you are chomping at the bit to get outside and get digging. Stop the snow! Hold the chill! Bring on the April showers and May flowers. After all, it’s springtime, isn’t it?

It is, which means it’s time for a slew of gardening tips and fresh recipes from some of your favorite authors and bloggers, not to mention of host of new sites to peruse. And of course, prizes. What would a spring giveaway hop be without prizes?

Nada. So let’s get right to business. This year, I’m sharing one of my favorite recipe tips. As you reap your carrot harvest, I want you to consider adding orange zest to some of your recipes. I find the citrusy flavor to be a wonderful addition to carrots, complementing the sweet root with a surprising zip. It’s a huge hit in my Oatmeal-Carrot Cookies.

I also add it to my Carrot-Cranberry Salad. Again, it just seems to give the dish a special boost. Now, for my giveaway. This year I’m giving away a Windowsill Greenhouse and Herb Garden Starter Kit. It’s an easy introduction to gardening bringing the pleasure of fresh aromatic herbs right into your home! Place it in your kitchen window and you’ll literally have fresh herbs at your fingertips!

I’m so enjoying this blog hop although there are many authors who don’t seem to have their post up yet and five links don’t work. I’ll keep checking during the week to see if they’ve been set right:) Thank you so much for sharing your Oatmeal Carrot Cookies recipe, I’ve copied it and will print it out to try, they look and sound delicious!! I’ve filled out the Rafflecopter for your giveaway and now all I need to do is keep my fingers crossed! lol Thank you:) Carole Burant (carole_57@hotmail.com)

The recipe is amazing, as are the authors, albeit a bit “slow on the upload.” Hope you’ll revisit them over the next 10 days!

I have always wanted to plant herbs but I never get around to it. I bet they taste better than store purchased herbs!
